Eleuthera

The main focus and mission for CMA is to training and empower local pastors and church leaders. The ministry seeks to involve visiting mission teams directly in the ongoing ministries on the island. Our goal is to connect mission teams in partnership with local churches and ministries to impact the island with the gospel of Christ. This involves being the hands and feet of Christ in the communities, meeting real needs such as building a health clinic, assisting low income families with home repairs, and working alongside local Bahamians in assisting with building churches.

In addition to community outreach projects, mission teams get involved in ongoing local ministries by assisting missionaries and staff in relationship-building activities like work projects in the communities, serving in a special-needs school, after-school tutoring, VBS, sports ministries, outreaches, and other ministry opportunities.

Each year, 12-15 mission teams come to the island to serve at Eleuthera Bible Training Center (EBTC). The teams are a tremendous benefit to our training ministry by building credibility among the pastors and churches. Additionally, this experience can be life changing to those who sacrifice their time to serve on the island.

Eleuthera is a great “level one” mission trip because:

  • PROXIMITY: The Bahamas are relatively close to the United States (only 200 miles from Miami).

  • LANGUAGE: English is the official language in the Bahamas.

  • CROSS CULTURAL ministry experience that will challenge your comfort and grow your faith.

  • SAFETY: Compared to other countries, Eleuthera is relatively safe; crime is almost non-existent.

  • ESTABLISHED MINISTRY: EBTC is an established ministry committed to partnering with the local church that has been serving in Eleuthera for over 10 years.

  • AFFORDABLE: The price per person is less than most international mission opportunities.

These students are getting a great opportunity to minister outside their comfortable world they live in, and they’re getting a chance to experience life with these kids and see God work in these kids’ lives. It has been a great equipping opportunity for our students as we get them pulled away from life as they have it back home – no cell phones, no texts, no Facebook. So they really get to focus on who God is and what God has called them to be.

I came with my church, Red Bank United Methodist, to Eleuthera July 7th through the 14th. The trip changed my life completely. Not only did I have a lot of fun, but I saw God through everything we did! The beaches were beautiful, the people were so friendly, the kids were so much fun to be around, Billy sure cooked some great food, and the interns were so nice! Since I have been back from Eleuthea, I have been thinking and praying about going back to Eleuthera next summer because I loved it so much! The trip really made me appreciate so much and it also changed me as a person! I love going on mission trips and this one was by far my favorite trip I have been on.

We get to serve people in another country and get to see how they live. But we also get to build community here as well, both among the locals and with individuals on our team.
